CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE MANOJ JAIN J U D G M E N T (oral) CRL.M.A. 1358/2026 (exemption) Exemption allowed subject to all just exceptions. CRL.M.C. 361/2026 1. The present petition seeks quashing of FIR No. 654/2022 dated 21.12.2022, registered at Police Station Najafgarh, Delhi for commission of offences under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC, along with all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, on the basis of compromise arrived at between the parties. 2. The marriage between complainant and petitioner No.1 was solemnized on 03.12.2019 as per Hindu rites and ceremonies. 3. The FIR in question was registered against the husband and father-in-law of Ms. Shikha (respondent No.2 herein). Chargesheet has already been filed. However, after filing of the chargesheet, the parties were able to resolve their disputes amicably and are living together with effect from 20.04.2024. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the matter has now been amicably settled between the parties before Delhi Mediation Centre, Dwarka Court, Delhi on 29.08.2025. 5. Respondent No.2 is present in Court and reiterates the terms of the settlement. Upon Court query, she submits that she has resumed matrimonial ties with the petitioners and is, presently, living with her husband and in-laws and therefore, has no objection if the present FIR is quashed. 6. Investigating Officer (I.O) is present in Court and confirms broad facts and identifies the complainant. 7. In view of the settlement arrived at between the parties, continuing with criminal proceedings would serve no useful purpose especially when the couple is now enjoying matrimonial bliss. Moreover, the dispute does not involve any public interest and is private in nature. 8. Accordingly, exercising inherent powers vested in this Court under Section 528 of the BNSS, it is deemed appropriate to quash the instant FIR. 9. Consequently, to secure the ends of justice, FIR No. 654/2022 dated 21.12.2022, registered at Police Station Najafgarh, Delhi for the alleged offences under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC along with all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, is hereby, quashed. 10. The petition stands disposed of in aforesaid terms. (MANOJ JAIN) JUDGE JANUARY 15, 2026/st/js CRL.M.C. 361/2026 1
