Petitioner is aggrieved by the issuance of summon/notice dated 07.01.2026 by the Office of Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Punjab under Section 179 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 (corresponding Section 160 Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973) 2. Petitioner is a resident of Delhi and submits that the abovesaid notice could not have been issued as the petitioner is not a resident of State of Punjab. 3. ASI Dhanwant Singh, 210, Crime Branch, Ludhiana, who is also the Investigating Officer of the above case, is present and submits that, at the moment, they had only requested the petitioner Arun Das to join investigation so that his version is ascertained. He submits that it is only after his version is recorded, they would take decision with respect to further course of action to be taken in the matter. He also, in all fairness, submits that he is in Delhi today and if the applicant can come to P.S. Karol Bagh today at 5:00 pm and gives his statement, then the summons in question would stand discharged. He submits that, as on date, without ascertaining his version, there is no question of arresting him, at the moment. He submits that requisite steps would be taken later, after assessing the incriminating material. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioner, on instructions, submits that though summons in question was not in consonance with the provisions of law, the petitioner would go to P.S. Karol Bagh today itself at 5:00 pm and would make statement to the abovesaid Investigating Officer i.e. ASI Dhanwant Singh. 5. The petition stands disposed of in aforesaid terms. 6.
